EarthRoamer® Xpedition Vehicles were created to meet the needs of Bill Swails and Michele Connolly for a durable, capable, stand alone, four-season camper. Unable to find a suitable camper from RV manufacturers, they embarked upon a journey to make the ultimate expedition campers.
The company was founded in 2002 by Bill Swails, Chief Designer & COO and Michele Connolly, President & CEO. Both engineering undergraduates, the two met while attending UCLA in pursuit of their MBAs. Bill Swails, an avid traveler and photographer, needed a way to get to remote destinations for wildlife and landscape photography. He knew that getting "the shot" often meant waiting for the right light, usually found at dusk and dawn. Having spent many a night in the wilderness in a bivy bag after hiking for several hours, he also wanted a more comfortable way to pursue his lifelong passion and thus began the design of EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles.
It took several years and multiple revisions to evolve their product line to what they believe are the most capable, highest quality and most comfortable expedition vehicles available.
EarthRoamer vehicles are designed for value. They utilize the highest quality fasteners, electrical connectors, hardware and components available. Avoiding a failure in the middle of nowhere can be priceless.
As an organization, EarthRoamer is committed to the Tread Lightly philosophy so they design their vehicles with the environment in mind. They utilize renewable energy sources like biodiesel and solar whenever possible as primary power supplies. They look for energy efficient lights and appliances throughout. This strategy allows greatly extended periods of stand alone camping without reliance on external power or a noisy generator and leaves customers feeling good about the vehicles they have chosen to utilize in pursuit of their dreams.
