Working with Ogilvy One in Beijing, Volkswagen has created one of the most sophisticated and engaging interactive Olympic platforms to date. The campaign saw over 3,200 design submissions and over 1,000,000 visits and votes by the public over a period of 2 months.
"The Olympic Games are not only the world's biggest sporting event, but they are also the world's greatest visual spectacle. The Volkswagen Olympic Art Car Campaign is all about celebrating aesthetics, design and culture in the Olympic spirit of Participation and the People's Games," says Philipp Darjes, Marketing and Communications Manager for Volkswagen Group China's Beijing 2008 Olympic Department.
15 featured designs on 1:4 scale new beetle models are currently touring Volkswagen's dealer network in China. The designs will be launched on actual show cars at this year's Guangzhou Autoshow in Mid November and will serve as image carriers leading up to and during the 2008 Olympic Games.
