A short-lived attempt to revive the Scimitar was made by Middlebridge in 1988. Whilst it retained the classic Reliant GTE shape, it featured new alloy wheels, rear light clusters and better cabin trim. Principal mechanical change was the replacement of the Ford 2.8 V6 with the more efficient 2.9 version. Production ceased in 1990 after a total of 77 cars were built.
