We haven't done a post about Datsun for some time, mostly because as you already know, Datsun has been "dead" for years, but Nissan has decided to bring back this brand in India with a series of low cost vehicles.

I bit sad if you ask me, to take a brand that stood for so many great little cars and one that changed the face of the automotive industry and use it to make cheap ugly cars.
Datsun will launch with the Go. CEO Carlos Ghosn unveiled what he called an "attractive" hatchback (not) at a showcase event in India, with Datsun joining Nissan and Infiniti as Nissan Motor Company’s third marque.
“We’re bringing it back and giving it a modern shape, with modern technology that is particularly aimed at the high-growth market, addressing the segments where Nissan has no offer,” said Ghosn.
The new model’s name was inspired by the first Datsun, the DAT-GO, launched almost a century ago in Japan.
The all-new GO, on sale in India from early 2014, promises to combine space for five with impressive fuel-efficiency and acceleration at a price well below 400,000 rupees ($6,700).
“We’ve shown our first car, we’ve explained our brand styling strategy and we’ve basically announced to the Indian market that we are committed and we want to bring a superior product,” said Vincent Cobee, global head of Datsun.
“This car, in our opinion, will bring something new, something very ambitious to a sub- four lakh [400,000 rupee] segment in India.”
More new Datsun vehicles and markets are planned, with the brand debuting in Indonesia, Russia and South Africa by the end of next year.
The world premiere of the GO at Delhi’s Kingdom of Dreams had a touch of Bollywood, a debut in the nation where Datsun is seen contributing half of Nissan’s group-wide sales by 2016.
