You've probably never heard of this car, the company or the man behind it. The path is practically a carbon copy of Elon Musk, except this story started in 1976 and was quickly hushed by the competition.

Exar-1 logo.
The Exar-1 was invented by Edmond Xavier Ramirez. Conceived in Texas in 1976, designed in Italy and 10,000 cars were intended to be produced in a factory in Campbell, River Canada with each car to have an MSRP of about $18,000. It was powered by a "GE electric motor system". It had a body made of acrylic reenforced Kevlar.
