Maibohm Motors started car production in Ohio in 1916. The company was named after the founder Peter C. Maibohm who was a blacksmith, wagonmaker and real estate man. He offered an assembled car using a 4-cylinder engine.

After a fire they moved from Racine to Sandusky in 1919. 1920 was the company's best production when they built 1,212 cars. In 1923 a refined Maibohm was offered as a Courier. Only 373 Courier cars were sold and car production ceased that year.
