The wind combines lightness and power - and so too the BMW 3 Series Convertible. The characteristic shape of the front kidney grille, the wide dual headlights and the powerful curve of the bonnet instantly identify this as a true sports Convertible. Dynamic and athletic, the Convertible's long wheelbase and short overhangs are emphasised by the flowing movement of its lines from nose to tail. Whether the retractable hardtop is up or down, the compelling design and powerful proportions of this remarkable vehicle form an irresistible invitation to experience more.

The retractable hardtop on the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
Enjoy the freedom of open-top driving in an instant. The retractable hardtop disappears in just 22 seconds, leaving you free to lead the wind along each sporting curve and open straight. Even with the hardtop up, the flowing lines of the BMW 3 Series Convertible clearly express its open character. With its large windows and range of high-quality materials, the light-filled cabin radiates an exclusive and inviting ambiance.

Active Steering on the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
The optional Active Steering system adjusts the steering ratio to the car's speed - for greater driving comfort, faithful cornering and maximum agility. At low speeds, for example, it requires just two turns of the wheel from lock to lock. At higher speeds, it then increases the steering ratio to guarantee flawless forward progress. Active Steering also counter-steers automatically if the BMW 3 Series Convertible threatens to skid when cornering or braking.

The chassis on the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
Rear-wheel drive and weight distribution of almost 50:50 front-to-rear create ideal conditions for optimum driving dynamics. Featuring a double-joint tiebar spring-strut axle made largely of aluminium at the front and a five-arm axle at the rear, the suspension of the BMW 3 Series Convertible is the most advanced and sophisticated in its class. Its low centre of gravity and specially tuned damper settings serve to enhance the dynamic driving qualities of this stunning Convertible to an even higher standard.

Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) on the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) is an adjunct to Dynamic Stability Control. When driving on loose gravel or snow, activating DTC increases traction by increasing the tolerance for wheel slip, enabling the BMW 3 Series Convertible to gain better traction. Drivers who appreciate a more sporting driving style can activate DTC to allow for controlled wheel skid, or "drift". DSC takes a back seat and intervenes only when absolutely necessary. If desired, DSC can be completely deactivated.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) on the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
For greater safety and for greater driving pleasure: Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), an electronic chassis control system, is a standard feature on the BMW 3 Series Convertible. It constantly monitors the behaviour of the chassis and wheels. When it detects the threat of traction loss, it reduces drive power and applies precisely-measured braking pressure to individual wheels. Skidding is prevented before it can start, as within milliseconds, the BMW 3 Series Convertible is stabilised. At the touch of a button, Dynamic Traction Control can also be activated for extra traction and more surefooted progress on difficult surfaces.

BMW EfficientDynamics in the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
Behind BMW EfficientDynamics lies a package of intelligent features which reduce emissions and improve fuel consumption while also boosting performance. They ensure that the BMW 3 Series Convertible sets new standards in terms of the efficiency and economy of its engine: it is one of the first BMWs to offer innovative technologies such as the new Auto Start Stop function, Brake Energy Regeneration and a host of drive train modifications. Together, they solve the "power vs. fuel consumption" dilemma, in a way that's never been seen before.

BMW Navigation system with iDrive in the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
An optional features of the BMW 3 Series Convertible, the BMW Navigation system offers the ergonomic usability of the iDrive control concept. Using the intuitively-designed Controller and with the high-resolution Display perfectly positioned in your line of sight, you can set your destination without being distracted from the road ahead. Cabin climate, entertainment and communication functions are also accessed by the Controller. To instantly activate commonly-used addresses, radio stations or other features, simply use the eight programmable "favourites" keys.

Comfort Access in the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
The optional comfort access system lets you enter and start your BMW 3 Series Convertible without taking the key from your pocket. As you approach the vehicle, the key transmits a identification signal. The doors unlock as soon as you make contact with the door handle. One touch of the Start/Stop button and you are ready to start your journey.

Brake Force Display on the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
Sudden stops - emergency braking - are not a regular element of everyday driving. But it's precisely at these moments that the fast reactions of drivers behind are most important. Brake Force Display is a dual-stage brake light system. For normal braking, the main light element is illuminated; for harder, sudden braking, the entire brake light glows red. Drivers behind intuitively understand and can react accordingly.

Active Cruise Control on the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
Freeway driving can be so relaxing: the BMW 3 Series Convertible with Active Cruise Control (ACC) maintains your pre-set speed on the open road. When a vehicle enters your sensor field, ACC reduces your speed if necessary to maintain the distance that you have defined. When the lane is free again, ACC returns the vehicle to the desired speed. Touch on the brake or accelerator pedal and ACC deactivates immediately.

Adaptive headlights and cornering lights on the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
A winding road at night. Controlled by sensors and responding to the driver's movements of the steering wheel, the xenon headlights pan to follow each curve, ensuring the road ahead is always well illuminated. Cornering lights complement the optional Adaptive Headlights and feature two separate light sources within the headlight units. They light up the area to the side of the car to increase safety when turning at night. They are activated automatically when the indicator lever is used or the steering wheel turns, whenever the Convertible is moving at lower speeds.

Daytime running lights on the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
The daytime running lights are brighter than the parking lights and contribute to safety when driving in daylight hours. They are integrated in the corona rings of the standard bi-xenon headlight and lend an unmistakably sporting attitude to the appearance of the BMW 3 Series Convertible.

Passive safety system in the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
The safety electronics of the BMW 3 Series Convertible react to serious situations with amazing speed. Crash sensors respond immediately, deploying the four airbags (driver and front passenger front and side airbags) at the right time and to exactly the right degree. Seatbelt pre-tensioners and force limiters for the front seats offer additional effective protection.

Brake system and Tyre Pressure Indicator in the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
The high-performance brake system in the BMW 3 Series Convertible provides you with unlimited driving comfort whatever the situation. The intelligent system delivers both unequalled performance and responsiveness. The Tyre Pressure Indicator (TPI) constantly monitors air pressure to deliver outstanding safety. As soon as tyre pressure drops 30% below its normal value, the Check Control Display in the cockpit instantly informs the driver.

Wheels and tyres on the BMW 3 Series Convertible.
The sporting character of the BMW 3 Series Convertible is expressed in its range of wheel rims. All models are equipped with 17-inch light alloy wheels as standard. The BMW 335i, with its powerful 306 bhp, is the only model to come with mixed tyres as standard. In total, six different wheel rims between 17 and 19 inches are available for the BMW 3 Series Convertible.

Fascinating accessories.
Unusually attractive and highly functional: Original BMW Accessories offer an experience based on innovative solutions, while also setting standards in quality and safety. The best basis for full enjoyment every time you drive your car.
