Reference work for a plethora of badges.
A car without a logo? Unimaginable! In the car industry logos symbolise the "inner value", the message of the brand, and they ensure the continuity and recognition of the cars. The history of AUDI AG, which extends back to the 19th century, is particularly rich in logos and badges that were used on vehicles with the Audi, DKW, Horch, Wanderer, Auto Union and NSU brand names.

Die Geschichte der Audi Markenzeichen book.

In the book “Die Geschichte der Audi Markenzeichen”, AUDI AG presents an overview of this wealth of signs, badges and symbols for the very first time. These include the H with the crown from Horch or the Audi-1, the winged W from Wanderer and the numerous DKW logos. The index contains hundreds of entries for almost the last 100 years! They are presented in detail in their ever-changing forms and together with their chronological and factual backgrounds. The four rings that date back to 1932 are still today the central element in the Audi logo. A long-awaited reference work to look at and to read – not only for dedicated Audi fans, but for everyone interested in the car's cultural history!

The chronologically structured reference work comprises 160 pages, has over 170 photos and illustrations and provides the reader with an almost complete, very extensive logo index in the appendix. The book is published by Delius Klasing Verlag and is now on sale for 19.90 euros in bookshops and in the museum shop at the Audi Forum Ingolstadt.

This book is the start of a new series of publications from Audi Tradition entitled Edition Audi Tradition in which authorised accounts of the company and product history of Audi and its predecessor companies will be recorded in the future. The next volume to appear will be Thomas Erdmann's brands monograph on the history of DKW cars up to 1945.

The four rings of the Audi badge symbolise the brands Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer, which were later combined under the umbrella of Auto Union. Auto Union and NSU, which merged in 1969, made many significant contributions towards the development of the car. AUDI AG was formed from Audi NSU Auto Union AG in 1985.

Together with the two traditional companies Auto Union GmbH and NSU GmbH, Audi Tradition nurtures and presents the deep and diverse history of Audi.

The museum mobile at the Audi Forum Ingolstadt is open from Monday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
