Italy's Alfa Romeo will make good on at least some of the promise of its Brera 2+2 concept. AutoWeek's Best of Show winner from the 2002 Geneva show (AW, March 18, 2002), with the world premiere of the production car at March's Geneva show.
Like the concept, the production Brera carries Italdesign-Giugiaro lines. Unlike the V8-powered concept that suggested a possible $100,000 sports car, the front-drive Brera replaces the GTV coupe and will likely start around $35,000 for a 3.2-liter V6 model when it goes on sale in Europe in June.
Though a spider version will likely appear at the 2006 Geneva show, here's the real bad news: Don't expect any of these Alfas in the United States anytime soon.
